Trending Threadswill be on exhibit at the Abington Art Center from September 14 thru November 11, 2017. The show features 300 handcrafted, embroidered character blocks in wool felt. The interactive fiber art show will be celebrated with a reception on September 14th from 6 to 8 PM, and is open to the public. Gallery hours for the show are: Tues, Wed, Thurs, from 10 am to 8 pm and Sat. from 10 AM to 1 PM.
Trending Threads compares and contrasts the immediacy and impulsiveness of a tweet to the thoughtful interactions with one another. Show attendees will be able to move 4”x 4” character blocks around on a modular, handcrafted board in order to spell out their own giant fiber tweet. They will be encouraged to snap a photo and post it to social media with #trendingthreads. As the first and only resident fiber artist of the Abington Art Center, it took Teresa over a year to hand embroider each letter and character, a strong contrast to the fast-paced world of tweeting.
